GamePlan presents a SAAS model for AEC companies

Delaware, DH--(News Sources- Mar 26, 2013) – True Intelligence Technologies Inc. , a construction project management solution company is transforming building and infrastructure project delivery.  The Company today announced that it will launch it’s flagship product GamePlan’s updated version in April. The software-as-a-service (SAAS) based platform includes features to manage construction scheduling, look ahead plans, weekly work plans, document control, file sharing, RFIs, potential change orders, daily reports, checklists, issue management, punch lists, progress photo sharing as well as integration with GamePlan Android App for Construction.

New and improved GamePlan Collaboration and Coordination

GamePlan has evolved a lot since its first beta release in the month of October last year. Four modules in GamePlan provide an extensive array of functions to manage contacts,  construction schedule, Last Planner Process, Just-in-Time Delivery, Submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), Contracts, Change orders and more. Because Construction Management is a job of information exchange, communication and coordination, all functions in GamePlan connect to create a seamless workflow, create audit trails and allow easy and time saving coordination and collaboration. For example, a Look Ahead Plan task can be linked to an RFI, equipments, material deliveries, drawings, supplemental instruction, potential roadblocks, which in turn may be linked to GamePlan Resource Management for real time information exchange. Capturing these relationships, as work processes unfold, is crucial to ensure accountability and transparency, to avoid delays, and to remove road blocks in execution.

Features Include:

Look Ahead Plan, Activity Board, Weekly Work Plan, Constraint Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Document Control, File Sharing, Issue Management, Checklists, Directory, Submittals, Transmittals, Discussion Board, Social Enterprise, Purchase Order, Work Order, Meeting Minutes, Equipment Status Board, Team Status Board, Time Sheets, Daily Field Reports, Potential Change Orders (PCOs), Change Orders, Comprehensive and Summary Reporting.

How Coordination Can Aid in Construction Projects?

It is often said that a business started is not business done. In order to carry out the tasks involved in the construction projects in a better way it is necessary for coordination to become the foundation, otherwise even the simplest tasks will take much time to get accomplished. It so happens at times that even the biggest constructions projects fail to subsist since there wasn’t any coordination between the construction managers, design firms, project owners and contractors.

How coordination can assist in construction projects?

  • Establishes link between various concerns
The very basic grounds on which coordination can be considered as must is that it establishes link between various concerns including project owners, construction managers, design firms etc. This coordination assists in avoiding all sorts of issues in the construction projects since all these people stay coordinated and in touch with each other.
  • Avoids miscommunication
Miscommunication is most often the underlying factor behind let down of projects. It is only because the concerned persons did not communicate on time that the construction projects failed to get accomplished. Coordination in these cases avoids miscommunication to a large extent.
  • Timely execution of projects
For any project to be successful, it is necessary that it gets executed on time; otherwise delays of any sort might not give the desired results. At such times coordination comes to the forefront and aids in timely accomplishment of construction projects since the concerned persons stay linked to each other.
  • Harmonized activities
With coordination becoming the essence of any project, the activities can be carried out in much harmonized manner, without misconceptions of any kind. This harmony among the people so involved brings more transparency into the projects.
  • Better support
If all the people involved in the construction project remain in close connection with each other and their work is done in a coordinated way, much better support can be lent to the project as well as people constituting the project.

Announcing GamePlan Beta Tester Program

We are happy to announce the launch of lean construction based project management system – GamePlan. GamePlan’s Schedule Management and Field Management modules will be available for Beta testing initially. We will be adding Document Management, Contract Management, Cost Management and Resource Management modules shortly.

We are searching for Lean Construction experienced testers who can participate in beta testing our new web application GamePlan. The more people we can have feedback from the better application we can develop. Interested people can fill in this form from here – http://app.intellobuild.com/construction-software/get-started

We will be providing testing documentation and other information through emails and http://forum.intellobuild.com. We have set up this forum for GamePlan beta testers. Here they can give feedback, report bugs, request features and post results from individual use of the application.

The main objectives of beta program is to test GamePlan’s User Experience (UX) and User Acceptance. We want to make sure that our application fits the use for which it is intended and it is making things easier for the user.

We are seeking feedback on following questions:
  • Does the application fit the purpose for which it is intended?
  • How easy is it to navigate through GamePlan?
  • Is it obvious to you which actions are available to you?
  • Is the look-and-feel of GamePlan consistent from page to page, including font sizes and colors?

Integrate, Implement, and Coordinate

Having a construction project in hand is not enough until the course of action is planned beforehand. There are many instances when full-fledged construction Companies have failed, not because of lack of projects, but because they were unable to manage the existing projects efficiently. Prior assembly of resources and coordination of activities becomes therefore essential. Three simple steps to instigate a thriving construction project include:

  1. Integrate: assimilation of resources is very essential in order to implement the plan of action of any construction project. The first step to begin the process of implementation includes integration of resources, because if the resources are not gathered efficiently at one place then it would become extremely difficult to execute the plan so prepared for accomplishing the project.
  2. Implement: the second step to put a thriving project into action is putting those resources into practice by effectively implementing them into the project. And what matters more is implementation as per requirement rather than implementation of resources alone. There happens many a times that the construction companies find it hard to utilize the resources properly because they are unaware of where to employ them.  Giving a prior thought to implementation of resources hence becomes very much needed.
  3. Coordinate: the very last step to accomplishing a flourishing construction project is establishing coordination so that the activities being carried out remain harmonized and issues concerning lack of coordination do not arise. Because most often lack of coordination proves to be the underlying factor behind letdown of good construction projects.

Failing to Plan Equals Planning to Fail

So much has been said and talked about the inevitable elements of construction industry. Various issues that need immediate attention have also been discussed. How important coordination and communication is, has been paid enough heed.

But have we understood the importance of planning yet? Have we taken into account the consequences we might face if prior planning is not done in the construction industry? Well, the topic itself speaks volumes – if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.

The importance and uses of planning are many, but a few significant ones are highlighted below:
  •     Project execution

Most of the time businesses fail to execute the construction project on time not because the idea lacked matter or they fell short of resources, but because somewhere their plans starting from the scheduling to the budgeting of the project were improper and not properly chalked out.
  •     Be prepared for contingencies
If you are planning things in your business, it doesn’t indicate that you are being skeptical about your business, it instead shows that you are not waiting for something to turn up out of the blue and hamper the progress of your project. You are planning things in advance so that you can confront the mishaps of any kind. Isn’t that a wise thing to do?
  •     You have a backup option

Planning means availability of alternatives at your fingertips. You can choose anytime, any option at your convenience. It implies that you will always have a back-up option with you. If plan A fails, you always have plan B. Move ahead with the alternatives.
  •     Strategic management

A plan is more of a map, a guide, a direction, a route, most importantly, a strategy. It lays a well-thought-about path in front of you on which your business just needs to walk upon. Your business can manage things in a strategic manner because you are not digging at random; you know exactly where you are going.

All the other project functions therefore fail at the very beginning if you are not paying heed to planning. Better to fasten your safety belt even before you start the engine of your construction project.
